| Erin Wright's Biography |
I started studying piano at six, guitar at fourteen, and it was while I was studying jazz under the great jazz educator and pianist Shelton Berg at San Jacinto College that I began studying the bass violin. I still cherish to this day the decision to study music at San Jacinto College when Shelly was leading the jazz studies at their music department as along with the standard college music curriculum I also had the opportunity to study studio recording techniques, music business, and performed with the internationally award winning big band that Shelly led at the North Sea Jazz Festival, Carnagie Hall, and in Mexico City as good will ambassadors. I followed up my studies at San Jacinto College at the University of Houston studying music composition with an emphasis in Jazz Studies. I currently reside in Houston and maintain a busy schedule as a bassist (both electric and acoustic), guitarist (I lead a jazz trio that in which focuses on jazz standards and original compositions. |
